Mae Questel was born on 13 September 1908 in The Bronx, New York. Her parents Simon and Freida were Jews orthodox. She was admitted to Morris High School. She was interested in acting so she studied acting at the American Theatre Wing and with the Theatre Guild.

Questel wanted to become an entertainer but her parents discouraged her and forced her to leave Theatre. At the age of 17, she won a talent contest was signed by an agent, and worked as an impersonator.

In 1931, Mae got a job lending her voice to the animated character Betty Boop. She became the leading voice of Betty Boop. Until 1939, she provides her voice to Betty Boop. In the 1930s she sings the song “On the Good Ship Lollipop”. Apart from this, she studied drama at Colombia University.

Voice of Olive Oyl:

In 1933, Questel provided her voice to Olive Oyl in Popeye cartoons. She provided her voice for this character until 1938. In 1978, she also tried to take the role of Olive Oyl But then she rejected and role given to Marilyn Schreffle.
