She is most remembered for her appearances as Terri Michaels, a bail bondswoman on ABC’s The Fall Guy from 1982 to 1985. Christine Sullivan, a public defender on NBC’s Night Court from 1985 to 1992, and Georgie Anne Lahti Hartman on CBS’s Hearts Afire from 1992 to 1995.

On November 4, 1950, Post was born in Palo Alto, California. Richard F. Post, her father, was a physicist, and Marylee (Armstrong) Post, her mother, was a poet. She and her two siblings were reared in Stanford and Walnut Creek, the second of the couple’s three children. She cheered at Las Lomas High School and was a member of the cheerleading squad. She attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and then Pomona College in California for a semester before returning to Lewis & Clark to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree.

Post worked on various game shows before becoming an actor. She began her career as a member of the production team for Tom Kennedy’s Split Second. She also worked as a card dealer on NBC’s Card Sharks and as an assistant producer on CBS’s Double Dare. She appeared on The Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour, Super Password, The (New) $25,000 Pyramid, and The $100,000 Pyramid, among other game shows. In a November 1987 tournament episode of The $100,000 Pyramid, she assisted a participant in winning the $100,000 grand prize. 

Post’s early acting credits include a 1979 episode of Barnaby Jones, the pilot episode of Simon & Simon’s “Details at Eleven” in 1981, episode one of season two of The Greatest American Hero, two episodes of The A-Team as two different characters in “The Only Church in Town” in 1983 and “Hot Styles” in 1984, and The Love Boat. She was a regular on the ABC action drama The Fall Guy after appearing in the science fiction series Buck Rogers in the Twenty-First Century and as Diane Chambers’ best friend in the sitcom Cheers.

Following The Fall Guy, she starred as Christine Sullivan in the third season of the 1980s television comedy series Night Court till it ended. In the comedic series Hearts Afire, she starred with John Ritter as Georgie Anne Lahti Hartman. Post also appeared as Dr Elliot Reid’s mother in episodes of The District and Scrubs.

Post is known for her role as Mary’s mother in the 1998 film There’s Something About Mary.
