Caroline Kennedy is a diplomat, author, and lawyer from the United States. She served as ambassador to Japan for the United States between 2013 and 2017. Caroline is the only living child of the 35th President of the US, John F. Kennedy, and the former first lady of the US, Jacqueline Kennedy. As well, she is the niece of the Senators Late Ted Kennedy and Late Robert F. Kennedy. Her father was assassinated when she was a young child in 1963. After that, her family moved to the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where she attended school.

Kennedy worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City after graduating from Radcliffe College, where she met her spouse, exhibit architect Edwin Schlossberg. Kennedy graduated from Columbia Law School with a Juris Doctor degree, and her career currently includes law, governance, teaching, and charity work. She has also served as a spokesman for her family’s heritage. She has also co-authored with  Ellen Alderman to publish two books on civil freedoms.

Caroline Bouvier Kennedy was born on November 27, 1957, in Manhattan, New York, to then Massachusetts Senator John Fitzgerald Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy. Caroline spent her first three years of life in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., along with her parents. Caroline’s family relocated to the White House when she was three years old when her father was inducted as President of the United States.

On November 22, 1963, Caroline was approximately six years old when her father John Kennedy was killed. Jacqueline Kennedy and her kids, Caroline and John Jr., relocated to Manhattan’s Eastside the next year, wherein Caroline went to school.

Kennedy showed interest in being nominated to Hillary Clinton’s empty Senate seat from New York as Secretary of State but later dropped his name from consent for personal issues.
