Youssef En-Nesyri Early Life
Born on June 1, 1997, Youssef En-Nesyri is a resident of Fez, Morocco. He began his football career by playing for Maghreb Fez, the team from his hometown. En-Nesyri moved to American football at the age of 14. En-Nesyri signed his first deal as a professional in 2015 for €125,000 with Málaga C.F.
He was first tasked with the reserve team; on April 16, 2016, he made his senior debut for the reserves, scoring the last goal in a 3-1 Tercera Division road win over Guadix CF. En-Nesyri scored back-to-back goals against CD Huetor Tajar, River Melilla C.F., and FC Vilafranca in the subsequent three matches, respectively. On September 21, 2016, he scored his first goal for Malaga in a 2-1 home victory over S.D. Charles was going to be replaced by Eibar.
Club Career
Málaga
En-Nesyri began his youth football career at the Mohammed VI Football Academy before signing with Málaga CF in 2015 for a sum of €125,000. He was formerly a member of the Juvenil team, but on April 16, 2016, he earned his Tercera División senior debut for the reserves by scoring the last goal in a 3-1 road victory over Guadix CF. In the next three games against CD Huétor Tájar, River Melilla CF, and FC Vilafranca, he scored back-to-back goals.
He later established himself as a key member of the reserve team, who only missed promotion to the Segunda División B. En-Nesyri was a member of Juande Ramos’ preseason squad for the first team on July 8, 2016, and eight days later he scored twice in a 4-0 friendly victory over Algeciras CF.
After scoring six goals in the preseason, En-Nesyri agreed to a contract extension through 2020 on August 23, 2016. Three days later, he made his La Liga debut, replacing Keko as a late replacement in a 2-2 away tie with RCD Espanyol. On September 21, 2016, En-Nesyri scored his first goal as a professional, striking the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over SD Eibar at home after replacing Charles.
In 25 league games during the 2017–18 season, he contributed with four goals as his team was relegated.
Leganés
On October 30, in his ninth game, he scored his first goal to earn a 2-2 draw at home against nearby Rayo Vallecano in the first leg of the Copa del Rey’s round of 32. On November 23, in his ninth game, he scored his first league goal, the only one of a victory against a Deportivo Alavés team that was contending for first place.
En-Nesyri made history by becoming the first Pepinero to score a hat-trick in La Liga by scoring all three goals against Real Betis in late January or early February 2019. He did so by scoring six goals in three games as Leganés avoided defeat: a brace in a 2-2 draw with Eibar, the late winner at Rayo, and then all three goals against Real Betis.
Sevilla
En-Nesyri joined Sevilla FC on January 16, 2020, from Leganés, where he had previously played under Mu’nas Dabbur and Javier Hernández. The deal was reportedly worth €20 million, and it was for a deal that would extend until June 2025. As Munir El Haddadi’s replacement in the 65th minute of Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss, he made his debut two days later. On his first start, on February 9, he scored the opening goal in a trip to RC Celta de Vigo, with the same outcome.
On February 20, 2020, En-Nesyri made his debut in a European tournament, playing away at CFR Cluj in Romania in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 32.
In a 1-1 tie, he scored the late equalizer to help his club advance on the away goals rule. He contributed a goal to a 2-0 victory over Roma on August 6, 2020, in the round of 16. In 2020, Sevilla eventually won the UEFA Europa League.
His first goals in the tournament came on November 4, 2020, when he scored twice in a 3-2 victory against FC Krasnodar in the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League.

En-Nesyri scored hat-tricks in victories over Real Sociedad (3-2) and Cádiz CF at home in January 2021. (3–0). In the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 matches against Borussia Dortmund on March 9, 2021, he scored twice to help his team tie 2-2 at home. Sevilla, however, lost the match 4-5 on aggregate, and they were eliminated. In the Seville derby on March 14, he scored the game-winning goal to defeat Real Betis 1-0. En-Nesyri played in his 100th game for the team on April 4, 2021, against Barcelona.
International Career
En-Nesyri, who had previously played for Morocco at the under-20 level, was called up to the main team by manager Hervé Renard on August 22, 2016, for friendlies against So Tomé and Prncipe and Albania. Nine days later, in a 0-0 tie at the Loro Boriçi Stadium in Shkodr, he made his debut against the former.
En-Nesyri scored in the second group game of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, which resulted in a 3-1 victory over Togo.
At the cost of defender Badr Banoun, he was a late inclusion to the team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He gave the squad a late lead in a 2-2 draw in the final group match against Spain at the Kaliningrad Stadium.
En-Nesyri scored the lone goal in a victory over the Ivory Coast during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt to advance the Atlas Lions to the round of 16. He did it in order to tie the score against Benin, which led to a penalty shootout where Saturnin Allagbé saved the Moroccans by stopping him.
En-Nesyri was also selected for the Cameroon-hosted 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
He replaced Ayoub El Kaabi in the 65th minute of his first game back after a protracted injury, and in a 2-0 victory over Comoros, he missed a penalty. In the round of 16, he scored the equalizer in a 2-1 victory against Malawi.
