Club Career
Bastia
Khazri, an Ajaccio native, began his professional career with the regional club Jeunesse Sportive Ajaccio before transferring to Bastia. On February 20, 2009, he was given his first call to the senior team in preparation for their match against Amiens. In that game, he made his debut by replacing Ludovic Genest as a substitute in the 85th minute. A minute later, Bastia scored the game-winning goal to claim a 1-0 victory.
On March 13, 2009, in a 1-0 win over Montpellier, he scored the first goal of his professional career. Wahbi made a name for himself as a prolific scorer almost away, scoring once again a few weeks later in a 3-1 victory over Vannes. He scored once again, this time netting the opening goal against Troyes on the season’s last game day.
Bordeaux
He entered into a four-year contract with Bordeaux on July 1st, 2014. On August 9, 2014, against Montpellier on the opening day of the 2014–15 season, he played his first game in his new colors. That day, Bordeaux won by a goal to none.
On August 17, when the Girondins hosted Monaco, he made his second appearance for Bordeaux and scored his first goal. He contributed to his family’s 4-1 triumph by scoring his goal on a penalty he himself created. He scored the 3,400th goal in Girondins history on September 28, 2014. His first year with the Girondins was productive; he scored nine goals while starting for the squad.
In his opening game against Reims on August 9, 2015, he scored his first goal of the 2015–16 campaign (defeated by a score of 2–1). He scored a goal for league-leading Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on September 11 in a tense encounter; he was able to steal the ball from the opponent’s goalkeeper, Kevin Trapp, even though the game finished in a 2-2 tie.
Sunderland
Khazri signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Sunderland on January 30, 2016, for an unknown sum. On February 13, 2016, Khazri opened the scoring for Sunderland against Manchester United with a straight free kick that beat David de Gea at his far post. Later, as Sunderland prevailed 2-1, Khazri assisted Lamine Koné’s goal from a corner in the 82nd minute. [Reference required]
Khazri scored a volley in a 3-2 victory over Chelsea on May 7, 2016, as manager Sam Allardyce’s squad was on the verge of Premier League relegation. Sunderland Echo’s Richard Mennear reported that “His effort rate was really high as he pressed, questioned, and troubled the Chelsea defense from set pieces. He has recovered his shape exactly at the perfect moment”.
Khazri returned to Ligue 1 on August 31, 2017, and he agreed to a one-season loan with Rennes. On October 14, he was dismissed in a 2-0 Derby Breton defeat at Guingamp after receiving two yellow cards for dissent in the space of 10 seconds. His nine goals propelled the team to fifth place and Europa League eligibility.
Montpellier
Khazri committed to Ligue 1 club Montpellier on June 27, 2022. He decided to wear jersey number 99 for the team, making him the first Montpellier player to do so. He scored his first goal for the team on August 13, 2022, in a 5-2 loss at PSG.

He played his first and only game for France in February 2012 against Italy before being replaced by Frédéric Bulot.
When Sami Trabelsi, the coach of the Tunisian national team, called him up to the squad for the 2013 African Cup of Nations, Khazri once more shifted his international allegiance. Khazri is one of 23 Tunisians competing at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, as announced by Henryk Kasperczak.
He assisted Nam Sliti and scored a penalty in the final group match, a 4-2 victory against Zimbabwe at the Stade d’Angondjé, to advance the Carthage Eagles at the cost of favored Algeria.
Khazri was selected by manager Nabil Maâloul to represent Tunisia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. In the second group game, a 5-2 loss to Belgium in Moscow, he assisted Dylan Bronn and scored on his own in extra time. He then contributed to Tunisia’s first World Cup victory since 1978, a 2-1 comeback victory over Panama, after both sides had already been eliminated. He assisted Fakhreddine Ben Youssef in scoring the game-winning goal, which was the 2,500th in tournament history.
The Tunisian team captained by Khazri finished fourth at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. He scored an equalizer in their second group match against Mali at Port Suez to secure a 1-1 draw.
He scored his 22nd goal while wearing the colors of Tunisia against Mauritania in the third game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying on October 7 of that year, moving him into second place behind Issam Jemâa in the selection (36 goals). Khazri scored his first two goals of the campaign on the second day of the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations against Mauritania, a game that the Eagles of Carthage won 4-0.
