Styles P Early Life

David Styles was born in Corona, Queens, to a South African mother and a Jamaican father from Bed-Stuy on November 28, 1974. Styles and his younger brother Gary went to Yonkers with their mother when their parents divorced. He made lifelong buddies Jadakiss and Sheek Louch there. The three became friends over their mutual love of hip-hop and eventually created the Lox in 1994.

He is also recognized for being a founding member of D-Block Records and being a member of the popular hip-hop group The LOX. Style P is also a member of the hip-hop group Ruff Ryders. When Styles P initially started collaborating with well-known musicians like Diddy, the Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Mariah Carey, he garnered prominence.

These tracks also proved popular on many music charts, allowing Styles P to begin his hip-hop career almost immediately. Invincible, his debut novel, was published by Random House Publishing Group in 2010. After that, in 2011, he founded Juices for Life, a juice bar in the Bronx, New York. Curren$y, Styles’ most recent EP, was released in February 2012. He’s also still rapping with his numerous hip-hop groups, releasing albums and songs on a regular basis, including Phantom of the Ghost in 2014.

Styles P Personal Life

Styles is a vegan who, along with Jadakiss, runs four juice shops in New York. On July 31, 1995, Styles married his wife Adjua. Noah (born 1998) and Tai (1995–2015), whom Adjua has from a prior relationship, are their children. Up until her demise in 2015, Styles was Tai’s stepfather for the duration of her life.

Gary Quarles Styles, Styles’ younger brother, died in an automobile accident on May 13, 2001. Gary is frequently mentioned in Styles’ songs, particularly the tribute song “My Brother” from his debut album A Gangster and a Gentleman. Styles was involved in an incident at a New York nightclub in July 2002, which resulted in his slashing a man in the buttocks.

On November 26, 2002, Styles surrendered to police and began serving his eight-month term at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla, New York. Styles P Professional Career

The Lox began rapping as a trio in the mid-1990s, and their shows and street freestyles helped them gain a solid underground following. The three met Mary J. Blige in their late teens, who was pleased by their lyrical substance and brought their demo to Sean “Diddy” Combs. Diddy engaged the group to compose for Bad Boy Records right away. Following their deal with Bad Boy, the Lox began working on records with Diddy, the Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Mariah Carey, gaining them rapid popularity and mainstream prominence.

The trio contributed to a number of Diddy songs in 1996 and 1997, including “It’s All About the Benjamins” and “I Got the Power,” Mase’s “24 Hrs. to Live,” Mariah Carey’s “Honey,” the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Last Day,” and Mary J. Blige’s “Can’t Get You Off My Mind.” When Diddy’s No Way Out album (3 Platinum) with the number one song “I’ll Be Missing You” featured the Lox’s homage to the late Biggie Smalls, “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa,” as the B-side tune, the Lox gained international notoriety.

This single was the most popular in 1997, allowing the Lox to compose more of their own songs and finally release their debut album, Money, Power & Respect, in January 1998. The album was awarded platinum, and despite its chart-topping success, the trio began to believe that Bad Boy Records’ shiny image and production style clashed with their grimier rap sound. The trio approached Puff Daddy in his office after failing to convince him to release them from their contract, with Styles P hurling a chair at his own employer. Following this, the group was granted their release and signed with Ruff Ryder Records, leaving Bad Boy behind.

Styles released his debut solo album, A Gangster and a Gentleman, in 2002, after releasing another Lox album, We Are the Streets, and performing on records with other Ruff Ryders artists. Good Times, the album’s big track, reached number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 6 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. The song was also heavily played on the radio in 2002. Akon’s breakthrough first single, Locked Up, featured Styles on an alternative version in 2004. Two years later, on Ruff Ryders, he released his second album, Time is Money, which was followed a year later by Super Gangster (Extraordinary Gentleman).

Styles returned to the Hip-Hop scene in 2010, releasing two retail albums, The Green Ghost Project with DJ Green Lantern on Invasion Records and The Ghost Dub-Dime, a retail mixtape on E1 Records, after recording several mixtapes (formally Koch Records). His fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh albums (2011’s Master of Ceremonies, 2012’s The World’s Most Hardest MC Project, 2013’s Float, and 2014’s Phantom and the Ghost) were all released within a year of each other, kicking off a streak of yearly retail releases.

Filthy America… It’s Beautiful, Lox’s first album in 16 years, was released in 2016. Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums ranking placed the album at number six. G-Host (2018), Dime Bag (2018), S.P. the GOAT: Ghost of All Time (2019), and Presence were released after that (2019). In 2018, Styles P and Dave East collaborated on the album Beloved. Styles David: Ghost Your Enthusiasm, Styles P’s 13th studio album, was released on May 22, 2020.
