As Tina Datta and Sreejita played Meethi and Mukta in Uttaran, the argument over who would be the lead actress sparked a cold war between them. Tina had talked about the same in an interview with the media at that time and stated the following:

The show has been running for the last six years, and everyone knows it is about two actresses Meethi (Tina Datta) and Tapasya (Rashami Desai), and therefore, it revolves around me. In response to Tina’s claim that she should be credited with the show’s female lead, Sreejita stated:

• Initially, Sreejita intended to be a journalist; however, one of her friends suggested that she consider a career in acting. Later, she auditioned for a cameo role in the Hindi television series Kasautii Zindagii Kay, and was immediately selected.
