Early Career
Remo Freuler began his youth career with FC Hinwil before joining FC Winterthur in 2005. Freuler made his professional debut with Winterthur at the age of 18 in 2010, appearing twice as a substitute at the conclusion of the 2009–10 Swiss Challenge League.
He was transferred to Grasshopper Club Zürich that summer, where he played the most of the season with the under-21 team. He did play for the professional team at the start of the Super League season, where he scored against rival FC Zürich. The next season, Freuler was cut from the squad and loaned back to Winterthur during the winter break.

Winterthur
Freuler joined a Winterthur team that finished the first half of the season in tenth position in the Challenge League, only two points above the relegation zone. Winterthur finished fourth that season after he made 14 appearances, highlighted by his first career goals for the club in the form of a brace against Kriens on March 4, 2012. In the 2012–13 season, Freuler started all but two games as Winterthur finished third. Freuler’s contract with Winterthur was extended in the summer, and he played 21 more games for the club the following season before joining Super League team FC Luzern.
