Unfortunately for him, the movie was not passed by the censor board and all the blueprints of the film were also burnt because it showed politicians in the wrong way. Three years later, he worked in the film ‘Sau Din Saas Ke’ starring opposite acclaimed actress of that time, Reena Roy.

Career
Raj Babbar attained public recognition through a very well played role of a rich playboy-rapist in B.R. Chopra’s Insaaf Ka Tarazu, which starred the highly acclaimed female star Zeenat Aman and was the debut film of the 13-year-old Padmini Kolhapure. There was a major controversy over the propriety of showing the horrific rape of a 13-year old on screen, which was considered by most to be titillating and exploitative – and perhaps because of that, the movie was very successful commercially.
He became a consistent actor in B.R. Chopra’s films. He starred in Nikaah with Deepak Parashar and Salma Agha and in Aaj Ki Aawaz with Smita Patil with whom he had an intense affair and subsequently married, despite being married with two children at the time.
He worked with top banners and top stars of his era, and despite a few off-beat hits, never really achieved star-status. As he has aged, he has started doing more character roles, playing the villain with great elan and menace – a throwback to his start as the best-loved rapist of 1985 in Insaaf Ka Taraazu.

FAQs
Congress Party sprung a major surprise by naming actor-politician Raj Babbar the chief of the Uttar Pradesh unit and said other anticipated announcements related to the state, including the role of Priyanka Gandhi in the election campaign, will come at the right time. Babbar’s was not the sole surprise package the Congress unveiled this evening. Party general secretaries Janardan Dwivedi (in charge of organization) and Ghulam Nabi Azad (in charge UP) named four senior vice-presidents for the state, including the controversial Imran Masood from UP west’s Saharanpur. Masood, a minority face, was arrested on the eve of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections for threatening to kill BJP’s then prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Some of best movies of Raj Babbar are Insaaf Ka Taraju, Nikaah, Prem Geet, Umrao Jaan, Arpan, Aaj Ki Awaaz, Waaris.
Raj Babbar is a failed actor, not a crowd puller. I do not remember any role he had acted in films. Not a popular figure, he will ensure the failure of INC forever.
Rahul Gandhi, his party, the Congress, and his henchmen attribute all the ills of the universe to Modi. It is such a tragic moment. So many members of the security forces have lost their lives. Is this time to start a blame game and play politics? This the most unfortunate part of Congress politics for which the party is in such a state.
