Early Life
Lachey was born to Cathalyn (née Fopma) and John Lachey in Harlan, Kentucky. He is the brother of Drew Lachey, a musician and actor with whom he has collaborated. Robert James Fopma, his maternal grandfather, was of Dutch ancestry. Nick also has English, Scottish, German, Welsh and French ancestors.
He went to Cincinnati’s School for Creative and Performing Arts and Clovernook Elementary School in the Cincinnati neighbourhood of North College Hill, Ohio. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Professional Singing Career
Lachey began his professional singing career at Kings Island in the mid-1990s, performing in a group quartet across the park with buddy Justin Jeffre. Lachey, his brother Drew, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons were all members of the boyband 98 Degrees. The band’s initial album was 98 Degrees, but it was their follow-up album, 98 Degrees and Rising, that brought them their first big success. Over 10 million records have been sold by 98 Degrees.
