Chelsea Player of the Year

On May 5, he scored the second goal in a 2–0 triumph against Real Madrid in the second leg in London, helping Chelsea progress to the Champions League Final 3–1 on aggregate.

Early in the season, fans and the media claimed that Mount’s inclusion in the Chelsea and England starting lineups was due to favouritism on the part of the respective team managers, Lampard and Gareth Southgate.

These concerns were allayed when Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel acknowledged Mount’s growing dependence on him, calling him “crucial for our game” and “an incredibly vital player,” and naming him one of Europe’s finest players.

Mount was named Chelsea’s Player of the Year on May 18. Mason assisted Kai Havertz’s goal as Chelsea won the Champions League for the second time in their history, 1–0 against Manchester City in the final in Porto on May 29, Mount’s first title with the club.
