Career
Makarand Deshpande attended B. P. M. High School in Mumbai and graduated from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. He began creating plays for intercollegiate contests throughout his undergraduate years. He began his acting career in 1988 when he played Baba in the Bollywood film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Apart from Bollywood, Makarand has appeared in films like Dandupalya (Kannada, 2012), Jalsa (Telugu, 2008), No. 66 Madhura Bus (Malayalam, 2012), Rita (Marathi, 2009), and others.
He began working as a theatrical performer at Prithvi Theatre in 1990 and performed in a number of shows. Later, he met actor Kay Kay Menon, with whom he co-founded Ansh Theatre Group in 1993. After that, he made his stage debut with the full-length play Dream Man. Makarand Deshpande wrote, directed, and produced various popular plays at his theatre, including Sir Sir Sarla (2006), Karodo Mein Ek (2008), Miss Beautiful (2009), Joke (2009), Dev Vanar, Vasant Ka Teera Youvan, and others. Danav (2003), Hanan (2004), Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu (2010), Sona Spa (2013), and Saturday Sunday are some of the films he has written and directed (2014).
He was a judge in the Marathi reality TV programme Marathi Paul Padate Pudhe in 2011. Makarand appeared on the sports reality TV show Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) Season 3 as a member of the Veer Marathi squad in 2013. Because of his wonderful voice, he was given the opportunity to sing songs for films such as Jungle (2000), Ek Aur Visphot (2002), Supari (2003), and Naach (2003). (2004).
