FAQs

Why did Lata Mangeshkar never marry?

She is not factually verified and references are limited only to film gossip magazines of the ’50s and ’60s. Lata Mangeshkar and Music Director C. Ramchandra (also known as Chitalkar) fell in love with each other. The duo had a fruitful and long working association. It is most famous for the song “Ae mere Watan Ke logon” (Composed by C Ramachandra, sung by Lata Mangeshkar, penned by Kavi Pradeep). C Ramchandra also sang many songs with Lata Mangeshkar, notably “Shola jo Bhadke, Dil Mera Dhadke” from the film Albela. Due to some differences and circumstances (mainly their age difference of 11.5 years, C Ramachandra was born in Jan 1918 whereas Lata Mangeshkar was born in Sept 1929), they couldn’t marry. After this incident, Lata Mangeshkar remained unmarried for life.

Is Shreya Ghoshal better than Lata Mangeshkar?

Depends on the setting. In the studio, Lata Mangeshkar in her heyday was way ahead of just about everyone except perhaps Asha Bhonsle with whom it was more neck-to-neck. Shreya Ghoshal has herself acknowledged her as her biggest inspiration (which is obvious anyway).

Why is Lata Mangeshkar so popular?

Lata Mangeshkar is an Indian playback singer and music director. She is one of the best-known and most respected playback singers in India. He has recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages, though primarily in Marathi, Hindi, and Bengali.

What makes Lata Mangeshkar a good personality?

Lata Mangeshkar is a great singer, this is what the common people know. There are a ton of social activities she does, and that makes her a good person. From hospital to other social help to the needful, she has been beside every ill-fated Indian, be it a natural calamity, be it a poverty issue. She also keeps cordial touch to her known ones. She regularly writes and wishes them, and is not influenced by the ego that many cannot resist after such fame. She is honest too. When she did not arrive for Parliamentary issues, she did not accept her fees too.

Who is a better classical singer, Lata Mangeshkar or Rafi?

Not really a comparison as I am not very familiar with Rafi’s work but I have heard some raga renderings by Lata Mangeshkar and now know where she developed her ability to improvise as seen in her film songs. She would have been one of the classical legends had she chosen to go down the path of classical music, alas, she had a family to feed. The world got a playback singing legend instead.
