She changed her initial name to the more Hebrew-sounding Talia when she was 18 in order to find a partner. When she was 19, she married her first husband, a yeshiva student five years her senior. Haart became more disenchanted with her community throughout her stay in Atlanta as a Haredi Jew in the 1990s and early 2000s.Her treatment of her younger daughter, Miriam, really disturbed her.
