Joel Chukwuma Obi, also known as Joel Obi, is a Nigerian-born professional football player who currently plays as a midfielder for the Nigerian national team and Italian Serie B club Reggina. On February 9, 2011, Obi made his Nigerian debut against Sierra Leone in a friendly match played in Lagos.

Before suffering an injury toward the close of 2012, he started the Eagles’ subsequent 11 straight games. He was included in the World Cup 2014 preliminary team. He was included in Nigeria’s first 30-man roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in May 2018.
