Two years later, he joined Manchester United for an undisclosed cost of £80 million, a world record for a defender, and was named team captain after six months.

Harry Maguire appeared in one under-21 match for England in 2012. In October 2017, he earned his senior debut, and he was named to England’s teams for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2020, earning a spot in the latter’s Team of the Tournament.

Harry Maguire was born in the city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. He grew up in the adjacent community of Mosborough. Joe and Laurence, his brothers, are also football players. He attended Spinkhill’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Primary School and Chesterfield’s St Mary’s Roman Catholic High School.

Harry Maguire was a central midfielder for Sheffield United’s academy from the age of seven to sixteen, which helped him develop into the ball-playing center back he is now.

Harry Maguire is in a relationship with Fern Hawkins. Maguire announced on his Instagram page on 3 April 2019 that Hawkins had given birth to their first child, a daughter called Lily Saint Harry Maguire. Piper Rose, Harry Maguire and Hawkins’ second child, was born on May 9, 2020.

Harry Maguire was detained on the Greek island of Mykonos on August 21, 2020, following an altercation involving the police. He, according to Manchester United, is “completely cooperating with the Greek authorities.” Harry Maguire appeared in court the next day on the Greek island of Syros, after being detained for two days. He was freed from detention and his trial was rescheduled for August 25.

Maguire was found guilty on all counts, including serious assault, refusing arrest, and attempted bribery, by a court on the Greek island of Syros on August 25. Harry Maguire was not present at the court decision. Maguire was sentenced to 21 months and 10 days in prison on the same day because it was his first offense and he faced three charges.

Harry Maguire’s legal team filed an appeal against the court’s decision on August 26, 2020. While Manchester United and several British media outlets have claimed that his conviction is overturned, the prosecution disputes this.

On March 5, 2021, it was announced that Harry Maguire’s appeal is unlikely to be heard in 2021, and that while the prosecution wants the matter concluded as soon as possible, proceedings may possibly be postponed until 2028.
