Emile Smith Rowe joined Arsenal’s Hale End Academy at the age of eleven in 2010, after playing for South London club Glebe. At the age of 16, he made his debut for the Under-23s in 2016–17. During the 2017–18 season, he continued to play for the Under-23s, making 10 appearances and contributing two assists and one goal.On July 31, 2017, he signed his first professional deal with the club.

Emile Smith Rowe signed a new long-term professional contract with Arsenal on July 31, 2018, after being touted as having “plenty of promise” by head coach Unai Emery. Arsenal did not reveal the term of the contract, but it was rumoured to be five years.

Smith Rowe made his Arsenal first-team competitive debut against Vorskla Poltava in the UEFA Europa League on September 20, 2018, coming in as a second-half replacement for Alex Iwobi. His outing was the first professional debut for an Arsenal player born in the 2000s. 

He scored in Arsenal’s 3–0 triumph against Qaraba in the following Europa League encounter, becoming the club’s youngest goalscorer in a competitive match since Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2011, and the first player born after 2000 to score for the London side. He would eventually make his comeback from injury against West Ham on December 15, scoring in a 2-0 win at the Emirates.
