Known as Dele Alli, Bamidele Jermaine Alli is an English footballer. Currently, he is playing for Tottenham Hotspur. He was born into a broken family and raised by foster parents. Despite all odds, he worked hard to realize his dream of becoming a professional footballer. English Under-17, Under 18, and Under 19 teams as well as the English Under-21 team have been represented by him. He currently represents the English Senior National Team.

His father’s native country, Nigeria, approached him to play for them, but he could not because of his English commitments. Having begun his professional career with the youth team of the Manchester City Colts, he then spent some time with the Milton Keynes Dons (MK Dons) but was eventually transferred to Tottenham Hotspur. Having a strained relationship with his parents, he dropped the surname “Alli” from his jersey and now goes by “Dele.” His girlfriend, Ruby Mae, has had a positive influence on his personal life and is a source of inspiration.

Life Journey

Dele was born Bamidele Jermaine Alli, on April 11, 1996, in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. His father, Kenny, is Nigerian, and his mother, Denise, is English. Dele’s parents divorced after Dele was born, and his father moved to the US soon after, so he was initially raised by his mother. His mother had three other children with different fathers.

The Stantonbury Campus is located in north Milton Keynes, and The Radcliffe School is in Wolverton. Because of his mother’s alcoholism, he moved into the family of Alan and Sally Hickford when he was 13. Despite not being legally adopted, he refers to them as his “adoptive parents” and grew up with their son, who played football with him for MK Dons.

At the age of 11, Alli joined the youth team of MK Dons. His debut came when he was 16 years old when he played for the first-string team. In December 2012, he scored his first goal against Cambridge and made his league debut against Coventry City.

Several of his appearances for the English ‘Under-17’, ‘Under-18’, ‘Under-19’, and ‘Under-21’ teams have come from this age group. As a member of the English ‘Under-19’ team, he assisted Bradley Fewster’s goal in the draw against Germany.

When he was growing up, he idolized Liverpool midfielder, Steven Gerrard. Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s goalscorer, was also his favorite. In order to improve his own game, he studies the playing tactics of great players such as Lionel Messi, Andrés Iniesta, and Xabi Alonso.

Dele’s father remarried in the US, but he did not get along with his stepmother. In 2016, he dropped the surname “Alli” because he didn’t want to maintain a connection with his family. Ruby Mae, his girlfriend, is said to have prompted him to do so.

At the beginning of 2015, he was approached by former Nigerian footballer, John Fashanu, to play for the nation. As a result, he could not play for Nigeria as he was inducted into the English squad for the ‘UEFA Euro 2016’ qualifying matches.

During the 2015–2016 season, he was suspended for three matches after punching ‘West Bromwich Albion’ midfielder Claudio Yacob in the stomach. He apologized for the incident later. Additionally, he has received several warnings for diving and simulation and some of his critics have accused him of blatant cheating.
