In December 2016, Akpeyi wed his longtime girlfriend Emmanuella Ebert-Kalu. Prince Jason Akpeyi, who was born in Port Elizabeth in July 2018, was their first child. He is recognized for founding the nonprofit Daniel Akpeyi Children Empowerment Foundation (Dacef), which was established in 2020.
The foundation’s mission is to support Africa’s development by assisting underprivileged kids in receiving a high-quality education.

Club Career
- Akpeyi started his career with Gabros International F.C. and was elevated to the first team in 2005.
- In January 2007, he relocated to Nasarawa United F.C.
