Daniel Alves da Silva, more commonly known as Dani Alves, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a right-back for La Liga club Barcelona and the Brazil national football team. The most decorated player in the history of football with 43 trophies at the senior level, Alves is considered one of the greatest defenders of all time. Before joining Barcelona in 2008, Alves spent six years at Sevilla, winning two UEFA Cups and the Copa del Rey under the Andalusian club. In joining Barcelona for €32.5 million, he became the third-most-expensive defender of all time. He won the treble in his first season with the club and won the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup in the next season.
Additionally, he helped the club win two more Spanish Super Cup titles, five La Liga titles, and two UEFA Champions League titles in the years that followed. Alves transferred to Juventus for a fee of €26 million in 2016. Alves won the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia in his only season with the club, as well as reaching the Champions League final. - Alves made his debut for Bahia in a match against Paraná Clube during the 2001 Federacion Brasileiro Série A. Bahia won 3–0, with Alves supplying two assists and winning a penalty. As a result, head coach Evaristo de Macedo gave him a starting position.

Controversy
During a match at Villarreal’s stadium, El Madrigal, on 27 April 2014, Villarreal supporter David Campaya Lleo threw a banana at Alves. Alves picked up the banana, peeled it, and bit into it. His response was:
“We have suffered this in Spain for some time. You have to take it with a dose of humor. We aren’t going to change things easily. If you don’t give it importance, they don’t achieve their objective.”
Neymar responded by posting a photo of himself eating a banana on social media. Many other footballers have since posted photos of themselves eating bananas. Cyrille Regis, who was racially abused on the field during the 1970s and 1980s, expressed concern that the viral campaign would detract from the important issue of combatting racism.
The man who threw the banana at Alves has been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on 30 April 2014. Villereal was later fined €12,000 for the incident.
