Later, Fredrikstad agreed to pay Deportivo Saprissa 1 million kroner (125,000 euros) so Borges could join the squad right away and play for Fredrikstad when the season began on April 14 against the reigning league champion Stabaek. Borges said in March 2011 that he will depart Fredrikstad either during or after the 2011 campaign.
AIK
On January 1, 2012, it was made official that Borges, a free agent, will sign a three-year deal with Swedish soccer team AIK Stockholm after departing Fredrikstad FK. Martin Kayongo-former Mutumba’s number 10 jersey was given to him.
Borges played in his debut game for AIK on April 1, 2012, in a contest against Mjällby AIF. In the next match, he scored the game-winning goal against Kalmar FF to record his first goal for the team. He served as the team’s striker for the first half of the season under manager Andreas Alm. But following the summer break, he slid down and began to play as a central midfielder, and as a result, he became the team’s first pick at that position.
