During the 1993–1994 season of BET’s ComicView, he hosted the show, and in 1995, he hosted Def Comedy Jam. He is well known for his roles as Eddie Walker in Barbershop and for co-starring with Steve Harvey on The WB sitcom The Steve Harvey Show. He is also considered one of The Original Kings of Comedy.
In 2013–14, he hosted the daytime version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for the 12th season, and from 2012 to 2016, he appeared in the TV Land original series The Soul Man. Cedric Kyles was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, on April 24, 1964, to Rosetta (née Boyce), a schoolteacher, and Kittrell Kyles, a Missouri Pacific Railroad employee. Sharita Kyles Wilson, a communications professor at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, is his younger sister.
Cedric grew up in Caruthersville, Missouri, but relocated to Berkeley, Missouri, a northern suburb of St. Louis, after junior high. He attended Berkeley High School and graduated with honours. Southeast Missouri State University awarded him a communications degree.

Lorna Wells is Cedric’s wife. Croix (born in 2000) and Lucky Rose are their two children (born in 2003). Tiara (born 1990) is his daughter from a previous relationship. The Cedric the Entertainer Charitable Foundation, whose motto is “Reaching Out…Giving Back,” continues its participation with his high school by offering a scholarship to a graduating senior each year.
Before becoming a full-time comedian, Cedric majored in public communication at Southeast Missouri State University and worked as a State Farm insurance claims adjuster and substitute high school teacher. Kappa Alpha Psi is his fraternity.

Professional career
Cedric obtained his first acting job in the 1995 Apollo Theatre version of The Wiz as The Cowardly Lion. Later in his career, he appeared on The Steve Harvey Show as Cedric Jackie Robinson, Steve Harvey’s pal. Later in his career, he appeared in films such as Barbershop, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, Serving Sara, Johnson Family Vacation, Intolerable Cruelty, Man of the House, and many more. He has done voice work in animations such as Madagascar and Charlotte’s Web.
He continued to do stand-up comedy and travelled around the country with the Kings of Comedy group, which featured Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, and Bernie Mac, at the height of his acting career.
