After being released from the military in 1957, his father took the family back to his hometown of Carneys Point, New Jersey.
Willis has explained his past as a “long line of blue-collar people”. His mother served in a bank and his father was a welder, chief mechanic, and factory worker. He entered the drama club, got that acting on stage reduced his stutter, and was finally elected student council president.

On March 21, 2009, Willis, who continues close to ex-wife Demi Moore (he visited her wedding to Ashton Kutcher in 2005) and shares custody of his three children with her, backtracked on his promise never to marry again, when he tied the knot with model-actress Emma Heming at the Turks and Caicos Islands.
