Andriy Mykolayovych Shevchenko is a former football player, manager, and politician from Ukraine. Among his many accomplishments are his seven-year tenure at AC Milan and three years at Chelsea. He held the distinction of being the top scorer in the history of the Ukrainian national team between 1995 and 2012. During the 2004 FIFA World Player of the Year ceremony, he also won the Ballon d’Or and the Bronze Award. Shevchenko is one of the most successful players in Milan’s history and has won a Serie A title, a Coppa Italia, a Supercoppa Italiana, a UEFA Champions League, and a UEFA Super Cup.
After retiring from football in June 2012, he joined politics as a member of the Ukraine – Forward Party. During the 2012 Ukrainian parliamentary elections, he ran unsuccessfully. He had expressed a desire to manage the Ukrainian national team despite his political activities. Before he became the manager, Shevchenko briefly served as the assistant manager for the team.

- Andriy Shevchenko was not able to secure a spot at a specialist sports school in Kyiv, but he joined Dynamo Kyiv in 1986.
- For the next seven years, he played at the junior level before making his first appearance for the senior squad in 1994. A total of 117 matches were played and 60 goals were scored during his time there.
