Amrita came back to acting in 2002 with the movie Shaheed, in which she portrayed the mother of Bhagat Singh (portrayed by Bobby Deol). In 2005, Singh joined the TV industry with Ekta Kapoor’s family drama Kavyanjali, broadcasted on Star Plus. She was seen in a negative role in the show, which soon achieved enormous fame. In the same year, Singh earned acclaim for her appearance in yet another negative character for the movie Kalyug. She played the character of gangster Maya Dolas’ mother, Ratnaprabha Dolas, in the Sanjay Gupta film Shootout at Lokhandwala in 2007. Vivek Oberoi portrayed the character of Maya Dolas.
