Part of the Bachchan family, he is the son of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan was born in a Kayastha Hindu family on  5 February 1976 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father, Amitabh Bachchan, is a veteran Bollywood actor, and his mother, Jaya Bachchan, is a Bollywood actress and politician.

He has a sister, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, a model, and a journalist. Bachchan dated Karisma Kapoor for five years before getting engaged to her on his father’s 60th birthday. After three months, they disclosed the engagement and parted ways due to some family issues.  Later, he started dating Rani Mukerji. Abhishek Bachchan’s career raised in the year 2004 when he performed the role of a gangster in the political drama film ‘Yuva’ and a police officer in the action thriller film ‘Dhoom’. He starred in the crime comedy Bunty Aur Babli opposite Rani Mukerji, and the Ram Gopal Varma-directed thriller Sarkar in 2005.

The former was the 2nd highest-grossing movie of the year, and his performance in the latter got him a second Best Supporting Actor award at Filmfare.
