Penelope Cruz Bio, Age, Height, Sister, Children, Net Worth

Club Career

A. D. San Carlos

Cruz made his professional debut on January 22, 2011, against Barrio Mexico on the third day of the Summer Championship. He kicked off the 90 minutes of that occasion’s 2-1 triumph. He participated in two events during the tournament, and most of the time he was watching for a replacement.

The Sancarleos, on the other hand, proceeded to the elimination round after placing second in group B. They beat Cartaginés in the quarterfinals, Deportivo Saprissa in the semifinals, and Alajuelense in the finals, losing and taking second place, respectively.

Cruz had 7 appearances during the 2011 Winter Championships, and his group came in ninth with 21 points. He played in just one game in the summer of 2012. Cruaz abruptly announced his retirement on January 19, 2011, at the age of 20, in order to focus more on his PE career.

Cruz’s return for the Closing Tournament in the Costa Rican Second Division was made official by the team in a press release on January 14, 2015. On January 21, he made a cameo appearance during matchday 3 of the trip to Generación Saprissa, a game that ended with a scoreless draw.

He began the game against CD Liberia at the Carlos Ugalde Stadium on April 8 after sitting on the bench. Cruz let up one goal in the 0-1 loss. With 17 points at the conclusion of the day, his team was in the ninth position in group A and far from moving on to the next round.

Pérez Zeledón

Cruz joined with Pérez Zeledón in the middle of 2015, reentering the top division. But he never competed in the Winter Championship. Additionally, his squad experienced a performance problem that necessitated the separation of numerous players, including Cruz. Pedro Leal, Daniel Ramirez, Cristian Bermudez, and Julián Pino were the other dismissals.

C. F. Universidad de Costa Rica

Cruz was signed by C.D. University of Costa Rica during the transfer season to compete in the 2015 Winter tournament. On October 25, he made his academic debut at the Ecological Stadium during the game versus Carmelita. He played the first 90 minutes of the 1-0 victory. He made a total of 7 appearances, and his team finished eighth with 27 points.

Cruz developed consistency in the starting lineups under Portuguese coach Guilherme Farinha at the 2016 Summer Championship. He played for 21 games while giving up 29 goals. The university students, on the other hand, came in sixth place with 32 points.

Cruz’s fractured finger prevented him from competing in the opening round of the 2016 Winter Championship. On September 21, he made his comeback in a loss against Deportivo Saprissa with a score of 4-0. He participated for 664 minutes in all 7 matches he played in the campaign.

Deportivo Saprissa

Cruz was added to the purple team by Deportivo Saprissa on December 20, 2016, according to a press release. Three and a half years were specified in the contract that he signed.

Cruz was the first-game starter for the 2017 Apertura. The Saprissista squad visited the Carlos Ugalde Stadium on January 8 to mark the beginning of the 2017 Summer Championship. Cruz, who played for his team and wore the number “22,” let up a goal in the 1-0 loss. On February 21, his team played host to Pachuca de México at the Ricardo Saprissa Stadium in the opening leg of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions League.

Without a qualifying round commitment, the Saprissistas’ victory gave them the tournament’s early lead. His squad dropped to third place in the home run after losing 1-2 against Santos de Guápiles, hence it was determined that this was the final time by failing to win first place once more. The Rosabal Cordero Stadium hosted the Herediano final’s opening leg on May 17.

The 3-0 defeat saw no involvement from the goalie. The competition was concluded by a failure with a score of 0-2 in favor of the opponents and an aggregate of 0-5 in the aggregate series in the rematch on May 21 at the Ricardo Saprissa Stadium.

International Career

Cruz took part in the 2011 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship qualifying on November 23, 2010, in Guatemala. The Costa Ricans defeated Nicaragua in the opening game, which concluded with a score of 4-0 for Costa Rica. Later, they played Panama, losing 1-0 on the scoreboard. The Costa Rican squad finished second in the standings and faced El Salvador in the playoff round.

The Salvadorans won both of the round-trip games, 1-0 and 1-1, but owing to FIFA regulations, they were disqualified for fielding a player who was ineligible to represent that nation. The Costa Rican team won the series as a result, winning both games 3-0, and earned a spot in the regional competition.

The 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup was held in Colombia, and the Costa Rican U20 squad competed there. They finished fourth, behind Spain, Australia, and Ecuador. Spain prevailed 1-4 in the encounter between Costa Rica and Spain. When the match against the Australians was played on August 3rd, Cruz was the replacement player, and the Sele won 2-3.

The goalie once more watched from the sidelines in the last group stage match against the Ecuadorians, a 3-0 defeat. With this achievement, the Costa Rican team moved to the following round of competition among the top outsiders.

The round of 16 matchups with host Colombia took played on August 9 at the Nemesio Camacho El Campn Stadium in Bogotá. Cruz kicked off the game, and when the Colombians won 3-2, his nation was eliminated.

The youngster gets given his first call-up to the senior squad by Gustavo Matosas on March 14th, to play in a few upcoming friendlies. Cruz was benched on March 23, the day after the match against Guatemala, due to a muscular issue that was discovered during practice and kept him from focusing. Marco Madrigal took over in his place.

Cruz is added to the roster once more on January 23, 2020, this time by Rónald González Brenes, with the intention of leaving a gap on a non-FIFA day. At a match against the United States on February 1 at Dignity Health Sports Park, Cruz stayed in the lineup, and his nation fell by a score of at least 1-0.

He was picked to the preliminary team for the 2021 CONCACAF Nations League Finals on May 9, 2021. He was a member of the final-23 on May 25. Cruz, however, tested positive for COVID-19, and on May 27 Patrick Sequeira took his position.
